Pitches
We're beautifully natural and don’t have any marked out pitches anywhere, you are free to choose wherever you would like to camp; just pick your view and pitch up.

Everywhere within our camping area has a wonderful view of the hills and mountains of the Majella and Gran Sasso, so you'll be spoilt for choice.  We have shaded areas under the olive trees, we have open spaces and tucked away corners.

You can book in advance (see How To Book), or you can just turn up (but give us a call before coming in July & August to check we're not full).

Electricity

To keep everything as close to nature as possible, we don’t have any hook ups or lights within the camping area - the moon and stars can be amazing and provide all the light you need.

If you would like to charge devices, this can be done in the campers’ barn, alternatively we’re always happy to charge your device in our house.

Fridges

We have three large fridge-freezers available to all our campers, inclusive in the cost.

Cooking Equipment

We keep a good supply of pots, pans, cups, plates, cutlery, and just about anything that you can think of that you’d need for cooking and eating.  We have three double-ring camping gas burners, a gas over and hob, two small barbecues and one large grill.

Everything is freely available to all our guests, all we ask is a small contribution to the gas or charcoal if you use it.  Therefore, if weight and space is at a premium for your journey to us, in reality all you need bring is your tent, roll mat and sleeping bag - everything else is here.

SELF-CATERING OPTIONS

GLAMPING IN OUR CANVAS BELL TENTS

(only available April - October)

Prices per night

€42 per tent (based on two persons sharing)
€7 per extra person
(Children under 2 years are free, travel cot is available on request)

We have 5 canvas bell tents for hire.  They are beautiful.  They are 4m in diameter, with a central pole.  They sleep two in luxury, or a family of 4 with two young children in comfort.  Anything more than that will be a little cramped.

All tents come equipped with a proper mattress (no blow-up beds), rugs, lamp, picnic table & chairs.  Being of white (or cream) breathable canvas with mosquito netted windows, the tents stay cooler and more bug free than most tents.  They are pretty robust and waterproof and will withstand the strongest storm.

Everything is provided so you need bring nothing else with you, other than perhaps a small torch.  All the camping paraphernalia is here:  we keep a good supply of pots, pans, cups, plates, cutlery, and just about anything that you can think of that you’d need for cooking and eating.

All your bed linen is provided, including towels.  We have three double-ring camping gas burners, a gas oven and hob, two small barbecues an one large grill.  Everything is freely available to all our guests, all we ask for is a small contribution to the gas or charcoal if you use it.

Families with children: we keep two tents pitched close together, doors facing and with shared outside furniture.  This allows the parents and kids to have their own space, but for the parents to still feel secure that their children are safe and close.  Another (cheaper) option is to hire a "rent-a-tent" which you can pitch next to your bell tent.

SELF-CATERING ROOM

The Farmhouse (€42 per night)

This is a very comfortable room attached to our house.  It has a large double bed, an en-suite bathroom, a small fridge and tea/coffee making facilities.  All the facilities of the campsite are available to all our guests who stay here.

This room is perfect for couples who would prefer the convenience of their own bathroom and a little more privacy, yet still want to benefit from all we have to offer.

With it’s radiator heating and own bathroom this room is also perfect all year round.

THE FARMHOUSE, GROUND FLOOR ROOM ON THE LEFT

For bookings, see:  How To Book

Townhouse in the historic centre

Just 3km from the campsite in the historic centre of our village (Serramonacesca), we have a 3 storey townhouse that's been newly renovated to a high standard and sleeps up to six people.  It is complete with 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one en-suite), a bedsitting room, kitchen with open fireplace and small garden.  It's in a delightful part of the village with spectacular views.  You can read more about it here:  Kokopelli House

DOGS IN THE CAMPSITE

Because of our own two dogs (who wander around the campsite freely), our livestock (chickens and rabbits) and our neighbours' livestock we would rather not have dogs on site.  However, if you promise it will be well-behaved and stay on a lead at all times then we may make an exception.

Advice for Hikers, guide books & maps

We have for sale at the campsite the official hiking map to the Majella, which you can view online here: online map.  If you'd like to buy any maps before you come, you can do so from the website to the National Park (purchase maps online). Alternatively we can send one out to you.

For self guided hiking, we have our own written guides for local hikes, and further afield, which are inclusive for all our guests.

We keep a copy of the Cicerone Hiking Guide to Abruzzo plus a couple of other excellent hiking guides to the region.

We have trekked extensively over the Majella and are more than happy to give you advice and guidance.  If you would prefer us to take you out, we’re happy to do this too (with a small contribution to our costs and time).

Multi-day Hikes:  we are in the perfect position for basing yourself for multi-day hikes, particularly the superb 4-day hike across Spiritual Trail from Serramonacesca to Sulmona (http://kokopelli-italy.blogspot.it/2014/10/the-spiritual-trail-journey-through.html).

If you would like to use us as a base for storing kit, picking you up, dropping you off, etc get in touch and we can advise.

Snowshoes & hiking poles

In the winter the Majella is transformed into a winter wonderland with snow on the higher peaks generally from November until the end of March.  We have snowshoes available for our guests (inclusive of cost), plus plenty of advice as to where to go.  Again, with a contribution to our time and costs we’d be more than happy to take you on a guided excursion.

Free Wi-Fi

There are good, fast connections within and around the campers’ barn and terrace.

Library, DVDs and games

We have an extensive library of novels, travel books, maps, Italian phrase books, and magazines.  We have a DVD player and a good selection of DVDs.  There are plenty of games, such as Scrabble, Monopoly, cards, chess and so on.

Showers & Toilets

We have a modern, well equipped and scrupulously clean, showers and wash basins.  A €0.50 token is needed for a 4 minute shower (which can be extended) and each shower cubicle has its own large dressing area.  There is a hair dryer, large basins, mirrors, power points and a selection of products should you need them.

The toilets, like the showers, are modern and clean.  Toilet paper and soap (both completely environmentally friendly and biodegradable) are provided, as are hand towels, fresh air sprays and women’s products.

Dish and clothes washing

We have covered, outdoor sinks and drainers for dishes, and two large sinks with scrubbing boards for hand washing.  There is a launderette nearby if you'd like to use a washing machine.

Biodegradable dish washing liquid is provided, clothes washing soap (bio) can be provided for a small cost.  There are ample, and under cover, clothes drying racks and lines.
